![]() For the serious music fan with a taste for cutting-edge technology, there's no reason not to scrobble to both Last.fm and Facebook. Besides, scrobbling to Last.fm lets you enjoy all sorts of hacks and apps that run on your Last.fm profile. If sharing your music habits with Facebook freaks you out, perhaps you'd rather share them to Last.fm, to keep your musical identity separate from your Facebook identity. It continues to scrobble not only from iTunes, but from cloud-based music services. In fact, "scrobbling" to Facebook is so easy that when Facebook added the feature, we called Last.fm the biggest loser in that equation. ![]() In that one simple step, you'll start sending your listening history to Facebook, so your friends can see what you've been listening to (unless you turn off Facebook sharing). All you have to do to send your playback history to your Facebook Timeline is use your Facebook identity to log into a music service. Now, Facebook does pretty much the same thing (except for with iTunes). Screenshot by Eliot Van Buskirk/Evolver.fm Last.fm's feature for this is called "scrobbling," based on the fact that it had acquired a company called AudioScrobbler in order to add it. at most sometimes eavescrob will get confused when my phone and computer sync and want to also scrobble all of my plays from my computer but all you have to do is hit clean cache and rebuild database and it fixes it, and i'm pretty sure for eavescrob you have to have the music downloaded to your phone but that's never been an issue for me because i don't typically listen to music that isn't saved to my phone anyway.Long before Mark Zuckerberg dropped out of Harvard to found Facebook, Last.fm allowed music fans to keep an online record of the music they had been listening to in all sorts of music players, including iTunes, Winamp, and more. i'll be honest, i haven't used spotify in about 6 years and i switched to apple music primarily because i already had a pretty large itunes library and didn't like having my music split between two different apps, but based on a lot of the comments i see on here regularly about issues scrobbling from spotify, missing scrobbles, it disconnecting, the album names changing regularly, etc.i have never experienced any of that using apple music and bowtie/eavescrob. for scrobbling off my phone i use eavescrob. I absolutely recommend bowtie for scrobbling off your macbook, it's by far the best scrobbling tool i've ever used and will scrobble anything off apple music even if it isn't added to your library. ![]() But beyond the last.fm integration being much more cumbersome than spotify's, the ways in which the interface operates and the ways in which apple music's library plays with local device library were a pain. For this reason, the free trial was nice. Makes scrobbling tracks on radio stations or other peoples playlists way frictionless.Īpple music has some exclusive tracks, mostly in the form of b-sides that are available to buy seemingly only on the itunes store (and as a result of this appear to be apple music exclusive). Tracks do not need to be saved to a library or downloaded offline. ![]() It captures scrobbles if you listen to about half the track, you don't need to listen to 100% of it. Then i played the track in its entirety and then opened the last.fm app and hit "scan", then manually confirmed the scrobble. I synced my apple music library to my iphone's local library, and if i wanted to scrobble apple music tracks, i made sure they were both downloaded and added to my library first. I use the official last.fm app and did a trial of apple music on an iphone. ![]()
